Preparing Your Sample

Accurate analysis starts with sample preparation. To minimize damage during transit, please follow the instructions below to ensure your samples are delivered to us with minimal or no damage. Packaging samples properly and asking the carrier for tracking service ensures your samples arrive intact.

If your samples require Chain Of Custody (COC), please use the COC provided on the bottom right corner of the Laboratory Work Order Form. If you need a more extensive COC, please call (702) 716-0534.

Sample Preparation by Vesta Minerals, Inc.

We accept small, dry, finely ground samples at our mailing address only.

If you choose to engage us in sample preparation, please follow these instructions to avoid additional charges:

Fill out our downloadable order forms and send along with your samples.
Send ONLY a small sample, only ½ to 1 cup or 240 gm of material placed in a strong double-sealed freezer bag or barrier pouch sealed tightly to prevent leaks. Sending more material costs more in shipping and may cost more in assay and storage charges.
Ensure your samples are homogeneous with pieces no larger than 1/4.

Securely attach your name and unique ID to each bag. This prevents confusion when you receive your results. We are unable to provide any information other than what is written on your sample bags.
If your sample is larger than ½ to 1 cup or equivalent to 240 gm, add an extra charge or handling and storage.
If your sample is larger than <100 mesh, add grinding to your order.
If your sample is wet, add drying to your order and include crushing, splitting, and pulverizing to your order

Packaging requirements:

Place each sample in a sturdy resealable bag, sealed tightly.
Clearly label each bag with your name and a unique sample ID.
Each sample must have its own unique ID; we cannot provide information beyond what is written on the sample bag.
Send samples in a strong box or mailing envelope and include a signed Laboratory Order Form.
We do not accept samples at our physical office — mailing address only.

Preparing Your Own Sample

You may send small samples (½ cup or less) and request drying and grinding services.

Please read carefully:

For accurate results, samples must be homogeneous and ground to <100 mesh (similar to flour).
Collect material from multiple areas of your source, or from various places on the same rock or soil.

Note: We require ONLY ½ cup or less. Sending excess material delays results and increases costs.

All samples must be dry and finely ground. If you prefer not to grind them yourself, please order drying and/or grinding services.
If samples arrive wet or unground without these services included, additional charges and delays will occur.

Internationals shipments require custom documents

Do not send over 2 lbs/907 gm in one package.

Send ONLY dry samples.
Identify all shipments as “NONCOMMERCIAL MINERAL SAMPLE.”
Follow the directions in Option 2, Prep Your Own Samples.
Check with your local customs department for the proper customs code.
